About

Dr. Brian Lynch, a family medicine physician, has nearly 40 years of experience serving the Chicago community. He completed his residency at St. Mary’s of Nazareth Hospital, where he also served as Chief Resident and subsequently became board certified. Dr. Lynch’s career has encompassed emergency medicine, occupational medicine, primary care, and mental health, allowing him to gain a comprehensive understanding of his patients.

In developing a commitment to substance abuse treatment and psychotherapy, Dr. Lynch’s practice has been notably influenced by the work of psychologist Silvan Tomkins, shaping his approach to understanding and addressing addiction. He has been a pioneer in prescribing buprenorphine for opioid addiction for 18 years, demonstrating his commitment to innovative treatment options.

Underpinning his approach to medicine is a long-standing involvement in philosophy and medical ethics. Dr. Lynch has served on two hospital ethics committees. He is particularly interested in the ethical dimensions of the pain and opioid crisis, focusing on patient access to appropriate pain care while also actively contributing to discussions about the role of government agencies in addressing this critical issue.

Throughout his career, Dr. Lynch has consistently strived to approach medicine holistically, recognizing the interconnectedness of physical and mental health. He remains dedicated to upholding the ideals of family medicine, providing comprehensive and compassionate care to patients of all ages.
